Why the Station Name Changed
When the subway line was being planned, there was a discussion about the station's name. Chung-Ang University is a big university very close to the station. They wanted the station to be named "Chung-Ang University Station." They also suggested "Chung-Ang University·Heukseok Station."
However, the station was first named just "Heukseok Station." Later, the Seoul Government changed its mind. They decided to add "Chung-Ang University" to the name. So, the official name became "Heukseok (Chung-Ang University)." This helps people know that the university is nearby.
