Hicks Island is a small island located in Northern Australia. It is found in Queensland, which is a state in Australia. The island is part of the amazing Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
Hicks Island is about 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) southeast of Cape Grenville. It sits in a place called Temple Bay. The island is also about 200 kilometers (124 miles) northeast of Kutini-Payamu (Iron Range) National Park and Lockhart River. These places are all found on the Cape York Peninsula.
The island is not very big, covering an area of about 160 hectares (about 400 acres). This makes it a small but important part of a group of islands known as the Home Islands Group.

Hicks Island is a very special place for birds. It is part of the Cape York to Cape Grenville Islands Important Bird Area. This means it is recognized as a crucial spot for many bird species. Birds use the island for nesting, feeding, and resting.

Other birds that call the island home include the bridled tern, roseate tern, and lesser crested tern. Terns are seabirds that often nest in large groups.
