About Hidden Valley Ski Area

Hidden Valley is found in Wildwood, Missouri. It is about 29 miles west of downtown St. Louis. The resort first opened its doors in 1982. It has many different types of slopes and areas to explore.

The resort features 17 different trails for skiing and snowboarding. It also has two special areas called terrain parks. These parks are designed for tricks and jumps. Hidden Valley can make snow on 100% of its slopes. They use 110 special snowmaking machines. These machines can pump over 6,600 gallons of water every minute! This means they can cover all the slopes with snow in just 48 hours.

Hidden Valley also offers the Polar Plunge Tubing Park. This is a super fun activity for families. It's like sledding, but you use a big tube instead. You don't need any experience to enjoy it!

In June 2019, a zip line tour called ZipTour opened at the resort. It has four different zip lines. They vary in length and go across Hidden Valley's 244-acre property. The ZipTour is open on weekends all year round. You can ride the zip lines from Friday to Monday, from 9:00 AM until sunset.

History of Hidden Valley

Tim Boyd bought the Wildwood Golf Course in 1977. In 1982, he turned the hills into a ski resort. He also kept the golf course open at the same time. Hidden Valley was the first of many resorts he would develop or buy. He did this through his company, Peak Resorts.

The resort is located in the bluffs above the Meramec River.

Later, Tim Boyd made an agreement to protect the ski resort land. This was called a conservation easement. In return, he was allowed to build 80 homes on the golf property. The golf course has since closed.

At the start of the 2012-2013 ski season, Hidden Valley added two new runs. These were on a nearby hill. They called this new area "West Mountain." With this expansion, an extra chair lift was added to reach these new runs.

In January 2018, the City of Wildwood voted to let Hidden Valley build a zip line tour. This allowed the resort to be open all year. The ZipTour officially opened in June 2019.
