Hideo Shinojima (篠島 秀雄, January 21, 1910 – February 11, 1975) was a Japanese football player. He was known for playing as a forward.
Playing for Japan
Hideo Shinojima was born in Nikko, Japan. This was on January 21, 1910.
In May 1930, he was a student at Tokyo Imperial University. He was chosen to play for the Japan national football team. He joined the team for the 1930 Far Eastern Championship Games. These important games were held in Tokyo. Japan won the championship that year.
Shinojima played his first game on May 25 against the Philippines. A few days later, on May 29, he played against the Republic of China. In that game, he scored a goal for Japan. Overall, he played 2 games and scored 1 goal for his country in 1930.
After His Playing Career
After he stopped playing football, Shinojima joined the Japan Football Association (JFA). This organization helps manage football in Japan. In 1965, he became the vice-president of the JFA. He worked hard to help Japanese football grow.
In 1975, he had to leave his role at the JFA. This was due to health reasons. Hideo Shinojima passed away on February 11, 1975. He was 65 years old. In 2006, he was honored by being chosen for the Japan Football Hall of Fame. This is a special place for football legends.
