Hieronymus van Alphen was a famous Dutch writer, born on August 8, 1746, in Gouda. He passed away on April 2, 1803, in The Hague. While he also worked as a lawyer (a jurist), he is best known for his wonderful poems for children.
His most famous work was a collection of poems called Kleine gedigten voor kinderen, which means "Small poems for children." These books were published between 1778 and 1782.
