Hillend is a small village, also called a hamlet, located in Midlothian, Scotland. It's just outside Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland. Hillend is most famous for its amazing Midlothian Snowsports Centre, which used to be called the Hillend Ski Centre. This center has a special artificial ski slope where you can practice skiing and snowboarding even when there's no real snow!

The village is very close to the border between Midlothian and the City of Edinburgh council area. Hillend gets its name because it sits right at the end of the beautiful Pentland Hills.

History of Hillend

Hillend was once the location of an old fort. A fort is a strong building or place used for defense. However, all the stones from this fort have been taken away over time. Now, the land where the fort once stood is used for farming.
