Hindi Zahra is a talented singer from Khouribga, Morocco. She was born on January 20, 1979. When she chose her stage name, she simply flipped her birth name around! Most of her songs are in English. However, some, like "Imik Si Mik," also feature lyrics in the Berber Shilha language.
Hindi Zahra's music has been compared to famous singers like Billie Holiday and Norah Jones. She was inspired by artists such as Cheikha Rimitti and Umm Kulthum.

About Her Music Journey
Hindi Zahra grew up in Khouribga, Morocco, with her mother, who was a dancer and actress. When she was fifteen, she moved to Paris, France, to live with her father. At eighteen, she even worked at the famous Louvre museum!
Hindi Zahra taught herself how to play many instruments. She also wrote her own songs, both the words and the tunes. By 2005, she had written about 50 songs!
First Songs and Albums
In 2009, Hindi Zahra released her first collection of songs, called an EP (Extended Play), titled Hindi Zahra. It included songs like "Beautiful Tango" and "Stand Up."
Her first full album, Handmade, came out in January 2010. It was released by the well-known Jazz record label, Blue Note Records. The music video for "Beautiful Tango" was directed by French filmmaker Tony Gatlif. You might have even heard "Stand Up" in a commercial for Western Union!
Awards and Recognition
Hindi Zahra quickly gained recognition for her unique sound. In November 2010, she won the Prix Constantin award for Best Album. The next year, in February 2011, she received the Victoires de la Musique award for the best World music album. These are big awards in the music world!
Acting and Later Music
Besides singing, Hindi Zahra has also acted in movies. In 2014, she appeared in The Narrow Frame of Midnight and The Cut.
In April 2015, she released her second studio album, called Homeland.
