Hinterrhein (which means Valragn in the Romansh language) is a small village in the Viamala Region of Switzerland. It used to be its own municipality in the canton of Graubünden.
This village is special because it's located close to where the Hinterrhein river begins. This river is one of the two main streams that form the mighty Rhine river. On January 1, 2019, Hinterrhein joined with two other villages, Nufenen and Splügen, to create a new, larger municipality called Rheinwald.
