From Stabia S.C. to F.C. Stabiese
On March 19, 1907, some people named Weiss, the Romano brothers, and Pauzano started the club Stabia Sporting Club. At first, it was a sports club for many activities like fencing, cycling, running, swimming, and rowing.
By 1911, the club started its football team. Their first official game was on February 12, 1911. They played against a team from a nearby town, Torre Annunziata. Stabia won the game 3–0. This exciting win was even reported in a newspaper called "Il Mattino".
Stabia played many local games. On February 1, 1914, they had a famous 0–0 draw against the well-known team, Naples. Around this time, Stabia also played a match against the crew of an English ship, HMS Black Prince. The English team won that game 11–1.
Stabia Joins the League
In 1916, Stabia joined official league competitions for the first time. They played in the Terza Category, which is like today's Serie C. Stabia made it to the semi-finals but lost to Campanian rivals Savoia.
Football stopped during World War I. But after the war, in 1919, the club was restarted by Vincenzo Bonifacio. Their first game after restarting was a friendly match against a team of English sailors called War Lion. Stabia won that game 6–0. Another club, Sport Club War, also started in Castellammare di Stabia in 1919. This club later joined with Stabia S.C. by 1920.
Stabia then played in the Prima Categoria Campania. Here, they competed against the best clubs from their region. They finished 6th out of seven teams. A great moment was their 4–0 away victory against Salernitana. They played again in the 1922–23 season. They finished 3rd in their region, behind Savoia and Internaples.
Around this time, some people got the land where the Stadio Romeo Menti stadium would later be built. After playing at the top level, Stabia spent some time in lower leagues. In 1930, the club changed its name to F.C. Stabiese. Sadly, in 1933, this club had to close down due to money problems.
A.C. Stabia is Born in 1933

S.S. Juventus Stabia Takes Over
In 1953, another club in the town, Società Sportiva Juventus Stabia, became the main team. This club was founded in 1945. It took over the football history of the older clubs.
The "Juventus" part of the name comes from the famous Turin club Juventus. That club was very successful in the 1930s. The word "Juventus" is Latin for "youth".
In 1996, the club changed its name to AC Juve Stabia. This club also faced financial difficulties and had to close down in 2001.
