Hitoshi Sogahata (曽ヶ端 準, Sogahata Hitoshi, born August 2, 1979) is a famous Japanese former professional football player. He was a talented goalkeeper who played for the Kashima Antlers club for his entire career. He also represented the Japan national team. Sogahata is known for his long and successful career, winning many championships with Kashima Antlers.

Club Career Highlights
Sogahata was born in Kashima, Japan, on August 2, 1979. He started his football journey with the youth team of Kashima Antlers, a top club in the J1 League. He joined the main team in 1998.
He made his first professional appearance on May 8, 1999. By 2001, he became the team's main goalkeeper. The Antlers won the J1 League championship two years in a row. In 2002, Sogahata was even chosen for the Best Eleven award, which means he was one of the best players in the league that year.
Winning Many Championships
Kashima Antlers won many titles with Sogahata as their goalkeeper. They won the J1 League three times in a row from 2007 to 2009. They also won the Emperor's Cup in 2007 and 2010. The team also secured the J.League Cup in 2011, 2012, and 2015.
From 2008 to 2014, Sogahata played in every single match. He set a J1 League record by playing 244 games in a row! In 2016, the Antlers won the J1 League again. This allowed them to play in the 2016 Club World Cup. Sogahata played in all four matches, helping his team finish in second place.
In 2018, Sogahata played a key role in the team winning their first ever Asian title, the 2018 AFC Champions League. This was a huge achievement for the club.
Retirement from Football
After more than twenty years playing for Kashima Antlers, Hitoshi Sogahata announced his retirement on December 24, 2020. He is remembered as a loyal and successful player for his hometown club.
International Career
On November 7, 2001, Sogahata played his first game for the Japan national team against Italy. He played three games for Japan until 2003.
In 2002, Sogahata was part of the Japan team for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. This is one of the biggest football tournaments in the world.
In August 2004, Sogahata was chosen to play for the Japan U23 national team in the 2004 Summer Olympics. He played all three matches in the tournament.
