Ho Iat Seng (born 12 June 1957) is a politician from Macau. He served as the third leader of Macau, known as the Chief Executive, from 2019 to 2024. He was in charge of Macau's government during this time.

Early Life and Education
Ho Iat Seng was born in Macau. His parents came from a place called Jinhua in Zhejiang, China. He went to Pooi To Middle School in Macau.
Later, in 1992, he studied electronic engineering and economics. He attended Zhejiang University in Zhejiang, China. He even became a special guest researcher at the university.
Political Journey
Ho Iat Seng has held many important roles in government. From 1978 to 1998, he was part of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference for Zhejiang Province. This group helps advise the government.
In 2000, he became a member of the National People's Congress. This is China's highest state power body. A year later, he joined its Standing Committee.
From 2004 to 2009, he was a member of the Executive Council of Macau. This council helps the Chief Executive make decisions.
In 2009, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Macau. This is like Macau's parliament, where laws are made. He served as its Vice-President from 2013 to 2019. He was also the President of the Legislative Assembly between 2014 and 2017.
Becoming Chief Executive
On April 18, 2019, Ho Iat Seng announced he wanted to become Macau's Chief Executive. This is the top leadership position in Macau.
He was elected as Chief Executive on August 25, 2019. He received a very high percentage of the votes. After his election, the Premier of China, Li Keqiang, officially appointed him.
Ho Iat Seng officially started his role on December 20, 2019. This date was special because it was the 20th anniversary of Macau being returned to China. Macau was previously governed by Portugal.
On August 21, 2024, Ho Iat Seng shared that he would not seek another term. He decided not to run again due to health reasons.
Awards and Honours
Ho Iat Seng received the Grand Cross of the Order of Prince Henry. This is a special award from Portugal. He received it on April 20, 2023.
