This amazing state park has two main parts. One part is next to Lake Macatawa. The other part is right on the shore of Lake Michigan. These two sections are on the north side of the channel that connects the two lakes. Holland State Park is often the most visited state park in Michigan. It welcomes between 1.5 and 2 million visitors every year!

Fun Things to Do at Holland State Park

Holland State Park offers tons of exciting activities for everyone. You can go swimming, boating, or fishing in the lakes. Camping is also a big hit here, with great spots to pitch a tent or park an RV.

Exploring the Park's Features

The park has cool dune areas, which are big hills of sand. There are also nice picnic spots where you can enjoy a meal outdoors. Kids will love the playgrounds, perfect for burning off some energy. You can also get awesome views of Holland Harbor. Don't forget to look for the Holland Harbor Light, also known as "Big Red." It's a famous lighthouse!

Lake Macatawa Unit Adventures

The Lake Macatawa part of the park has its own special features. You'll find a campground here, which is great for overnight stays. There's also a beach where you can relax by the water. If you have a boat, there's a public boat launch ready for you to use.

Lake Michigan Unit Fun

Over at the Lake Michigan unit, you'll discover even more to do. This section has a paved campground, making it easy to set up camp. There's also a pavilion, which is a covered area perfect for gatherings. Best of all, there's a wide, sandy beach right along Lake Michigan. It's perfect for building sandcastles or just soaking up the sun.

Walking the Channel Breakwall

The breakwall next to the channel is a popular place for a walk in the summer. It's a long path that goes out into the water. While it's a fun walk, it's important to be careful. The breakwall can be tricky to walk on when the weather is bad. Always pay attention to the conditions before you go.
