Hollis Copeland's Early Life and Career
Hollis Copeland was born in Trenton, New Jersey, on December 20, 1955. He grew up in Ewing Township, New Jersey. He was a tall basketball player, standing 6 feet 6 inches (about 198 cm) and weighing 180 pounds (about 82 kg). He played as a small forward on the court.
High School and College Basketball
Hollis played high school basketball at Ewing High School. After that, he continued his basketball journey in college. He played college basketball for Rutgers University from 1974 to 1978.
Professional Basketball Journey
In 1978, the Denver Nuggets picked Hollis in the 1978 NBA draft. He was the second pick in the third round. However, he did not stay with the team.
He then signed with the New York Knicks. Hollis played for the Knicks in two different seasons. These were the 1979–80 and 1981–82 seasons. During his second season with the Knicks, he had a foot injury. This injury affected his playing career.
After his time in the NBA, Hollis Copeland continued to play basketball in other leagues. He played for teams like Helios-Skol, San Javier de Puerto Montt, the Staten Island Stallions, the Miami Tropics, and the New York Whitecaps. His professional basketball career lasted until 1990.
