The Holyoke Mall at Ingleside is a big shopping center in Holyoke, Massachusetts. It's in a part of the city called Ingleside. A company called The Pyramid Companies owns it.

This mall has 135 stores, a large food court, and many restaurants. It's about 1.6 million square feet big. This makes it the third-largest mall in New England when you look at how much space is used for shops.

The mall has several main stores, called "anchor stores." These include Macy's, JCPenney, Target, Best Buy, Burlington, and Hobby Lobby.

In 2015, the mall got a fresh new look. They put in new floors, brighter lights, and comfy benches. The Holyoke Mall is easy to get to from major highways like I-90 and I-91. Because of this, it's a popular place to shop in Western Massachusetts. Many people from other states visit it too!

Mall History and Growth

The Holyoke Mall first opened its doors on July 5, 1979. When it started, it had four main stores: G. Fox, JCPenney, Sears, and Steiger's. The plans for building the mall were approved in 1973.

Early Days and First Stores

Before the mall was built, a main road called Whiting Farms Road was made longer. Some people joked it was a "road to nowhere" at first. When the mall opened, it had 125 different shops. There was also an eight-screen movie theater in the basement, right next to the food court.

Big Changes and Expansions

The mall got much bigger in 1995. A whole new section was added. The G. Fox store moved to the end of this new wing. This expansion also brought some of the first mall locations for stores like Toys "R" Us and Christmas Tree Shops. At that time, it was known as the largest mall in New England.

In 2005, a store called Lord & Taylor closed its location in the mall. Then, in September 2006, the Filene's store became a Macy's. There were talks about adding a new 10-screen movie theater in 2019, but those plans are currently on hold.
