Honcut is a small community in Butte County, California. It used to be called Moores Station. This place is known as a census-designated place, which means it's a special area set up by the government for counting people.
Honcut is located about 108 feet (33 meters) above sea level. You can reach it by taking Lower Honcut Road from California State Route 70. It's also very close to the border of Yuba County.
Honcut's History
Honcut has a long history with its post office. The first post office in Honcut opened in 1856. Over the years, it moved back and forth between Butte and Yuba Counties. Finally, it closed permanently in 1943.
There was also another post office called Moores Station. It opened in 1869 and was named after John C. Moore, who was the first postmaster there. This post office closed in 1875, reopened for a short time in 1876, and then closed for good in 1892.
