Honomū (which means "silent bay" in Hawaiian) is a small community in Hawaii County, Hawaii, United States. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the U.S. Census Bureau defines for gathering population data, but it's not an officially incorporated town or city. In 2020, about 452 people lived in Honomu.

Where is Honomu Located?
Honomu is found on the northeast side of the big island of Hawaii. It's a beautiful spot with green landscapes. The main road, Hawaii Route 19, goes right through the community.
Getting Around Honomu
You can drive about 31 miles (50 km) northwest on Route 19 to reach Honokaa. If you head south for about 11 miles (18 km), you'll arrive in Hilo, a larger city. There's also Hawaii Route 220, which goes southwest from Route 19. This road leads you about 3.8 miles (6.1 km) to the amazing Akaka Falls State Park.
