Horizon West is a special kind of community in Orange County, Florida, United States. It's called a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's an area that the government counts as a place, even though it's not officially a city or town. It's also an unincorporated area, meaning it doesn't have its own local government like a city does.

Horizon West is part of the larger Greater Orlando area. In 2020, about 58,101 people lived there. This area is known for being one of the fastest-growing master-planned communities in the whole country!

Horizon West is made up of five main "villages" that have different types of buildings, like homes and shops, all mixed together. These villages are Bridgewater, Lakeside Village, Hickory Nut, Ovation Village, and Seidel Village. They are surrounded by special natural areas called greenbelts. There's also a main shopping and activity area called Hamlin, which acts like a town center. The idea for Horizon West was first approved by Orange County back in 1995.

Where is Horizon West?

Horizon West is located in the southwestern part of Orange County, Florida. It's very close to the famous Walt Disney World Resort, just north and west of it.

This area has some interesting neighbors. To the north, you'll find the city of Winter Garden. To the east is the town of Windermere. And to the south, it borders the city of Bay Lake, which is where Walt Disney World Resort is located. It also borders the CDP called Four Corners.

Horizon West was first officially recognized as a defined area during the 2010 census. A major road, State Road 429, also known as the Daniel Webster Western Beltway, goes right through Horizon West. This road connects Ocoee to the north with Four Corners and Interstate 4 to the south.

Land and Water

According to the United States Census Bureau, Horizon West covers a total area of about 38.1 square miles (98.6 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, about 32.9 square miles (85.3 square kilometers). The rest, about 5.1 square miles (13.3 square kilometers), is water. This means about 13.5% of Horizon West is covered by water.
