Hornchurch Stadium: Home of Sports
This stadium is a busy spot for both running events and football matches. It's located on Bridge Avenue in the London Borough of Havering. Many local sports teams use it for their games and training.
A Look Back: Stadium History
The Hornchurch Stadium first opened its doors in 1956. It was built by the local council, which was called the Hornchurch Urban District Council at the time. For many years, it was the home field for an older football team, also called Hornchurch F.C., until that team stopped playing in 2005.
What's Inside: Stadium Features
The stadium has space for many fans! It can hold up to 3,000 people. About 800 of those seats are covered, so fans can stay dry even if it rains.
Seating and Stands
One special part of the stadium is a stand called 'The Riverside'. It got its name because the River Ingrebourne flows right nearby. In November 2016, this main stand was renamed 'The Colin McBride Stand'. It was named after Colin McBride, who used to be a chairman and manager for the AFC Hornchurch team. The fans wanted to honor him for all his hard work!
