Horseshoe Council Bluffs is a fun place with a casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa. It's located close to Omaha, Nebraska. This spot is owned by Vici Properties and run by Caesars Entertainment.
The casino has a large area for games, about 60,000 square feet. Here you can find 1,438 slot machines and 63 table games. There's also a special room for poker called the WSOP poker room. If you visit, you can stay at the Hilton Garden Inn right next door. Other nearby hotels include Country Inns & Suites, Holiday Inn Express, and SpringHill Suites.

History of Horseshoe Council Bluffs
Starting as a Race Track
The place first opened in 1986. It was known as Bluffs Run Greyhound Park. Back then, it was mainly a track for greyhound dog races.
Becoming a Casino
In March 1995, something new was added: slot machines! This made the property a casino, and its name changed to Bluffs Run Casino.
Changes in Ownership
A company called Harveys Casino Resorts bought the property in 1999. They paid $165 million for it. Then, in 2001, Harrah's Entertainment took over Harveys. Harrah's Entertainment is now known as Caesars Entertainment.
Big Renovation and New Name
In 2006, Harrah's spent $85 million to make the casino bigger and better. After this big update, they changed its name again to Horseshoe Council Bluffs. The greyhound dog races stopped completely in 2015.
Current Ownership
On October 6, 2017, the ownership of the property changed once more. It went to a company called Vici Properties. However, Caesars Entertainment still operates the casino. They lease it back from Vici Properties.
Exciting Events at Horseshoe
World Series of Poker Circuit Event
The Horseshoe casino hosts a big poker event every year. It's called the World Series of Poker Circuit Event. This exciting tournament usually happens in August.
Horseshoe Poker Championships
Another major poker event takes place in February each year. This one is known as the Horseshoe Poker Championships (HPC). Both events bring many poker players to the casino's poker room.
