Hossein Kaebi (born on September 23, 1985) is a former professional football player from Iran. He played as a Right back for many different clubs. These included Sepidrood and Persepolis in Iran's top football league. He also played for clubs in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and England. After retiring as a player, he became an assistant coach for Foolad.

Hossein Kaebi's Club Football Journey
Hossein Kaebi started his football career in the youth team of Esteghlal Ahvaz F.C.. He then moved to Foolad. There, a coach named Vinko Begović quickly saw his talent. Hossein was very young but soon joined the first team.
He was chosen to play for Iran's Under-17 team in the AFC U-17 Championship 2000. Soon after, he was also picked for the senior national team. European clubs noticed him early on. In 2003, he had a three-week trial with Wolverhampton Wanderers in England.
In 2004, Kaebi helped Foolad win Iran's Premier Football League for the first time. Later, he signed with Emirates in the UAE. On February 25, 2007, he joined Persepolis F.C. for six months.
Playing for Leicester City
On July 5, 2007, Hossein Kaebi signed a two-year contract with Leicester City in England. He played his first game for them on August 25, coming on as a substitute in a 4–1 win against Watford.
While at Leicester City, Kaebi used a translator because he could not speak English. After the manager, Martin Allen, was fired, Kaebi was moved to the reserve team. He felt frustrated about not playing in the main team. He even said he might leave Leicester if he kept sitting on the bench.
He finally started a game on December 11, 2007, in a 3–1 loss to Ipswich Town. However, he was put on the transfer list by the new manager, Ian Holloway, on December 23. He left Leicester City on February 4, 2008.
Returning to Iranian Clubs
After his time in England, Kaebi returned to Persepolis in Iran. He helped them win Iran's Premier Football League for the second time. Even though Persepolis wanted him to stay, he decided to join Saipa F.C.. He played for Saipa for two seasons and also played in the Asian Champions League.
Later, he joined Steel Azin for two seasons. In 2011, he moved to Rah Ahan, where he played under his former coach Ali Daei. He then played for Sanat Naft and Esteghlal Khuzestan.
After a short time at Sepidrood, Hossein Kaebi announced he was retiring from football in December 2018.
World Record for Youngest International Player
In March 2025, a sports website called Transfer Market reported something special about Hossein Kaebi. They said he was the only football player in the world to have played the most games for his national team before turning 24 years old. This shows how talented he was from a very young age.
Hossein Kaebi's International Career
Hossein Kaebi played his first game for the Iranian national team when he was just 17 years old. He scored his first goal for Iran against New Zealand in 2003.
In 2004, World Soccer Magazine named him one of the top 10 most promising young players. He was part of the Iran squad that finished third in the 2004 Asian Cup. He also helped Iran win the 2004 West Asian Football Federation Championship.
Playing in the FIFA World Cup
Kaebi was chosen for the Iran squad that played in the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He played in all three group stage matches. One of his most memorable games was against Portugal. In that match, he did a great job defending against famous players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Luís Figo.
He also played in the 2007 Asian Cup, appearing in one game against China. He was called up for the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches and the 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualification.
