Hossein Kaebi's Club Career Highlights
Hossein Kaebi began his football journey at the Esteghlal Ahvaz F.C. youth academy. He then moved to Foolad. A coach named Vinko Begović quickly noticed his talent. Hossein was soon playing for the first team, even though he was very young.
Early Success and European Interest
He was chosen to play for the Iran Under-17 team in 2000. Soon after, he joined the senior national team. European clubs started to notice him early on. In 2003, he even had a three-week trial with Wolverhampton Wanderers in England.
Hossein was part of the Foolad team that won the Iran's Premier Football League in 2004. This was a big achievement for the club. Later, he signed with Emirates in the UAE. On February 25, 2007, he joined Persepolis F.C. for a short time.
Playing for Leicester City in England
On July 5, 2007, Hossein Kaebi signed a two-year contract with Leicester City in England. He made his first appearance for them on August 25. He came on as a substitute in a 4–1 win against Watford.
During his time at Leicester City, Hossein needed a translator because he couldn't speak English. After the coach, Martin Allen, was fired, Hossein was moved to the reserve team. This meant he didn't play with the main squad as much.
He felt frustrated about not playing more. He even told a local newspaper that he was eager to show his skills. Many Iranian fans wondered why an international player wasn't getting more chances. Hossein later said he might leave Leicester if he kept sitting on the bench.
He finally got to start a game on December 11, 2007. However, he was put on the transfer list soon after. This meant the club wanted to sell him. He left Leicester City on February 4, 2008.
Returning to Play in Iran
After his time in England, Hossein Kaebi returned to Persepolis. There, he won the Iran's Premier Football League for the second time. Even though Persepolis wanted him to stay, he decided to join Saipa F.C.. He said he wanted to try a new team.
He played for Saipa for two seasons. During this time, he also played in the Asian Champions League. After Saipa, he joined Steel Azin for two years. Then, in 2011, he moved to Rah Ahan. He joined his former coach, Ali Daei, there.
Later, he moved to Sanat Naft in January 2013. He stayed there for half a season. After that, he joined Esteghlal Khuzestan for the 2013–14 season. After a short period at Sepidrood, he announced he was stopping playing football in December 2018.
