House Island is a small island located near Manchester-by-the-Sea, in Massachusetts, United States. It sits just outside Manchester Harbor in Massachusetts Bay.

House Island is not home to any people. No one lives there. The island has very steep, rocky sides. It is also covered with thick plants and trees.
Why is it Hard to Visit House Island?
The island is covered in a plant called poison ivy. This plant can cause itchy rashes if you touch it. Because of this, visiting House Island is not a good idea.
How Close Can Boats Get to the Island?
The steep cliffs around House Island are very deep underwater. This means that boats, like those used by lobstermen, can get very close. They can come within about 20 feet (6.1 m) of the shore without getting stuck.
