House of Air, a trampoline park in a converted airplane hangar in Crissy Field

House of Air is an awesome indoor trampoline park in San Francisco. It's located in a cool place called Crissy Field. This fun park opened its doors in 2010.

House of Air is inside an old airplane hangar. This hangar was part of the Presidio. The park has more than 8,000 square feet (740 m2) of trampoline space! It was created as part of a plan to build fun places in San Francisco's national park.

A Historic Building

The building where House of Air is located has a long history. It was built in 1921. Back then, it was an airplane hangar for Crissy Field. It helped launch De Havilland DH-48 biplanes. These planes were part of the United States Army's 91st Observation Squadron.

Later, the Army used the hangar for painting vehicles. It was also used for offices and storage. This historic building helps make Crissy Field a National Historic Landmark.

A San Francisco architect named Mark Horton redesigned the hangar. It now has a huge glass door that opens up. This door is 42-foot (13 m) wide and 20-foot (6.1 m) tall. There's also a second-story catwalk where you can look down at the trampolines. Inside, you can see old photos of the building and the Presidio. They are on a 35-foot (11 m) display wall at the entrance.
