Where is Huangguoshu?

This magnificent waterfall is located in the southwestern part of China, in Guizhou province. Guizhou is famous for its mountains, caves, and stunning natural landscapes. The waterfall is specifically found near the city of Anshun, making it a popular spot for tourists exploring the region.

How Big is This Waterfall?

Huangguoshu Waterfall is truly massive! It stands about 77.8 m (255 ft) tall, which is like a 25-story building. It's also incredibly wide, stretching 101 m (331 ft) across. Exploring the Area

The area around Huangguoshu Waterfall is a national park and a major tourist attraction. There are several viewing platforms where you can see the waterfall from different angles. You can also explore other smaller waterfalls, lush green forests, and interesting rock formations. The sound of the rushing water is incredible, and the mist from the falls creates beautiful rainbows on sunny days. It's a great place for hiking and enjoying nature.

How Waterfalls Form

Waterfalls like Huangguoshu are formed over thousands of years by the power of flowing water. Rivers flow over different types of rock. When a river flows from a harder, more resistant rock layer to a softer, less resistant layer, the softer rock wears away faster. Over time, this erosion creates a steep drop, and the water plunges down, forming a waterfall. The constant flow of the Baishui River has carved out the impressive Huangguoshu Waterfall we see today.
