Huasna is a small, unincorporated community. It is located in the southeastern part of San Luis Obispo County. This county is in the state of California, United States. The name Huasna comes from the Chumash people. In their language, it was called Awasna.
Where is Huasna?
Huasna is found on the western side of the southern Santa Lucia Range. This is a mountain range in California. If you look on a map, Huasna is directly east of the town of Arroyo Grande. The Huasna River also flows right through this community.
A Bit of History
Huasna got its name from a very large ranch. This ranch was known as Rancho Huasna. In 1843, a governor named Manuel Micheltorena gave this land. He granted it to a person named Isaac J. Sparks. Long ago, there was an adobe ranch house here. An adobe house is made from sun-dried earth and straw. There was also a schoolhouse in the community.
Past Activities
In the 1950s, people explored the Huasna area. They were looking for oil. There was a lot of oil exploration happening then.

Today, the Huasna area looks quite different. It is mostly used for farming. You will see many farms there now.
