Football Career

Hugh Barr had a long and interesting football career. He played for many different clubs and also represented his country.

Playing for Clubs

He also played for Coleraine, Ballymena United, and Linfield. While at Linfield, he scored many goals, which made other teams notice him. Coventry City, a team in Division 3, signed him. Their manager, Jimmy Hill, was very keen to get him. After Coventry City, he played for Cambridge United. Later in his career, he became a player-manager at Ely City. He also played for the main Northern Ireland national team. When a player plays for their country, it's called being "capped." Barr was a member of the Great Britain squad for the 1960 Summer Olympics. Even though he was part of the team, he did not play in any matches during that tournament.
