Hurlingham has a history that goes back almost 140 years. Many different groups of people, including those from Britain, Germany, Italy, and Spain, have helped shape its story.
The city started when the Hurlingham Club was founded in 1888. This was a sports and social club created by the Anglo-Argentine community living there.
In December 1994, Hurlingham officially became a municipality (its own local government) through a provincial law. The city is known for its many green spaces, like the golf research area at INTA, and the nearby Camino del Buen Ayre road. It is also known for being one of the newer cities in Buenos Aires Province.

Hurlingham is located in the Greater Buenos Aires area. It is about 20 kilometers (about 12 miles) away from Argentina's capital city, Buenos Aires.
It shares borders with the towns of Villa Tesei, William C. Morris, Buenos Aires, and Ituzaingó Partido.
How Hurlingham Got Its Name
The Hurlingham Club was started in 1888 by the English community in the area. They named it after the original Hurlingham Club, which was founded in Fulham, United Kingdom.
The name "Hurlingham" actually came from Hurlingham House. This house was the home of the club's founder and was first built by Dr. William Cadogan in 1760.
Sports and Recreation in Hurlingham
Hurlingham is a great place for sports! The city has three rugby clubs: Curupaytí, Hurling, and El Retiro. All of these clubs are part of the Unión de Rugby de Buenos Aires, which organizes rugby in the Buenos Aires area.
The Hurlingham Club is a special place for British sports. You can find cricket, golf, and lawn tennis there. It even has some of the very few grass tennis courts in all of Latin America! The club is also famous for polo, and it is one of the top polo clubs in Argentina and around the world.

This city is also known for its music, especially rock! It is the birthplace of some well-known rock bands from Argentina, such as Sumo, Divididos, Las Pelotas, and Gangrena.
