Dominic Miller's Musical Journey
Dominic Miller was born in Hurlingham, Argentina. His family moved around a lot when he was young. First, they moved to Racine, Wisconsin, in the United States when he was ten. Two years later, they moved to London, England.
When he was fifteen, he moved back to Wisconsin. This is where he played his first public show! He was the only white person in a soul music band at a club in Racine. Later, he went back to London to study music at the Guildhall School of Music. He also took a summer course at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He even learned from a Brazilian guitarist named Sebastião Tapajós.
In the 1980s, Dominic toured as a guitarist for bands like World Party. He also worked as a "session musician." This means he played guitar on recordings for many different artists. Some of these artists include the Pretenders, Phil Collins, and Level 42.
Since 1990, Dominic Miller has been recording and touring with Sting. He even helped write one of Sting's hit songs, "Shape of My Heart." He started releasing his own solo albums in 1995. His first album was called First Touch. He has released many more albums since then. In 2003, he released a classical album called Shapes. On this album, he played his own versions of music by famous composers like Bach and Beethoven.
Dominic's son, Rufus, who is also a guitarist, has recently joined his band.
