Early Life and Education
Hussein Arnous was born in a village called Al-Tah, located in the Idlib area of Syria. He studied civil engineering at the University of Aleppo. In 1978, he successfully earned his degree.
Political Career
After finishing his studies, Arnous began his career in engineering. He worked with the Idlib Engineering Syndicate. From 1992 to 2002, he was in charge of the General Company for Roads and Bridges. This company builds and maintains roads and bridges.
In 2004, Arnous became the executive director of the General Establishment for Road Transport. This role involved managing transportation systems. He also served as the governor for two different areas in Syria: Deir ez-Zor and Quneitra.
Before becoming Prime Minister, Arnous held other important government positions. He was the Minister of Public Works and Housing from 2013 to 2018. After that, he became the Minister of Water Resources in November 2018.
President Assad officially named Arnous as the Prime Minister of a new government on August 30, 2020. He took his oath of office (a special promise to do his job well) three days later. He then formed a new government in August 2021, following the presidential election that year.
