Huxley is a small community called a hamlet in southern Alberta, Canada. It is part of Kneehill County. Huxley is located about 160 kilometers (100 miles) northeast of the city of Calgary.
History of Huxley
The first school in the area was built in 1907. It was named Ashcroft. This name came from John Courtland Ash, who was the first rancher in the area. He lived there even before the land was officially surveyed into homesteads. The community of Huxley itself is named after Thomas Henry Huxley, who was a famous English biologist.
