About the Bogota Tree Frog
This amazing frog belongs to the Hylidae family, which includes many different kinds of tree frogs. It was first described by a scientist named Wilhelm Peters in 1882. The Bogota tree frog is quite unique because it is endemic to Colombia, meaning you won't find it naturally anywhere else in the world!
Where the Bogota Tree Frog Lives
The Bogota tree frog lives in the high mountains of Colombia. Scientists have seen these frogs living at elevations between 1,750 and 3,600 meters above sea level. That's really high up!
Its favorite places to live are:
- Moist montane forests in tropical or subtropical areas. These are forests on mountains that get a lot of rain.
- High-altitude shrublands in tropical or subtropical regions. These are areas with small bushes and shrubs.
- High-altitude grasslands, which are open grassy areas in the mountains.

Why the Bogota Tree Frog Needs Our Help
Sadly, the Bogota tree frog is facing a big problem. Its natural habitats are disappearing. This is called habitat loss.
