IFK Eskilstuna is a Swedish football club. It is located in the city of Eskilstuna, in Södermanland County. The club was founded a long time ago, in 1897.
In its early days, IFK Eskilstuna played in Allsvenskan. This is the top football league in Sweden. Today, the team plays in Division 2 Västra Svealand. This is the fourth level of Swedish football.

IFK Eskilstuna started on September 9, 1897. The club has a long-standing rivalry with another local team, Eskilstuna City FK.
In 1910, IFK Eskilstuna joined the first-ever Svenska Serien. This was an important football competition. They played against famous clubs like IFK Göteborg and AIK.
Early Victories
IFK Eskilstuna played in their first championship final in 1921. They won the match against IK Sleipner with a score of 2–1. This exciting game took place at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium. Over 11,000 fans watched the team win.
Two years later, in 1923, they reached another final. However, they lost this game 5–1 to AIK.
More Than Just Football
In its early years, IFK Eskilstuna was not just about football. The club also had a bandy team. Bandy is a sport similar to ice hockey, played on ice. Their bandy team even played in Sweden's top league for two years in the 1930s.
Playing in the Top League
IFK Eskilstuna was part of the very first Allsvenskan season in 1924/25. They played a total of 13 seasons in this top league. Their best performance was in the 1931/32 season. They finished in fifth place that year. The club's last season in the highest league was in 1964.
Almost Reaching the Top Again
In 1981, IFK Eskilstuna almost made it back to Allsvenskan. They won Division 2 Norra, beating Örebro SK. But they lost in the play-off games against Kalmar FF.
They had another close call in 1987. They finished second in Division I Norra, just behind Djurgarden. The same thing happened in 1988, when they finished second to Örebro SK.
Recent Years
In 1992, IFK Eskilstuna moved down from Division 1. Since then, they have played in the middle levels of the Swedish football league system. Currently, they play their home games at Tunavallen in Eskilstuna.
IFK Eskilstuna is connected to the Södermanlands Fotbollförbund. The club also has a strong youth program. Their junior team won the Swedish Junior Championship in 1970 and 1985. Some famous footballers have played for IFK Eskilstuna. These include Kenneth Andersson and Sebastian Larsson.
