Iben Hjejle (born March 22, 1971) is a famous actress from Denmark. She is known to audiences around the world for her role in the American movie High Fidelity, which came out in 2000.
In her home country of Denmark, Iben is well-known for starring in popular TV shows. These include the comedy series Langt fra Las Vegas (which means Far from Las Vegas) and Klovn (Clown). She also played the main character, a crime-solving reporter, in the TV series Dicte.

Acting Career
Iben Hjejle has acted in many Danish movies. She was in a Dogme 95 film, which is a special type of movie made with simple, natural filmmaking rules. She also appeared in action movies like Old Men in New Cars. In 2001, she played Queen Sofia Magdalena of Denmark in a historical TV show called The Marriage of Gustav III.
Early Films and Recognition
Some of her early movies include Portland (1996) and Mifune's Last Song (1999). Her acting in Mifune's Last Song was so good that she received a special award, an Honourable Mention, at the 49th Berlin International Film Festival.
It was at this film festival that the British director Stephen Frears noticed her talent. He asked her to be in his next movie, which led to her first big international role.
Success in Hollywood and Beyond
Stephen Frears cast Iben in the movie High Fidelity (2000). In the film, she played Laura, the girlfriend of the main character, who was played by John Cusack. This movie made her famous outside of Denmark.
Years later, Frears worked with her again on the film Chéri (2009). She also acted in other international films, including Defiance with Daniel Craig and The Eclipse.
