Where is Igriés?
Igriés is in a beautiful spot in northern Spain. It sits south of the mighty Pyrenees mountains. The village is about nine kilometers (around 5.5 miles) north of a city called Huesca. You can find it along the road that leads to Sabiñánigo. Igriés is also nestled in the valley of the Isuela River. It is close to Satocobá mountain. The area around Igriés, called its municipality, also includes a tiny village named Yéqueda.
A Glimpse into Igriés' Past
Igriés has a long history! The village was first written about way back in the year 1104. This important mention came from the Bishop of Huesca and Montearagón. It shows that Igriés has been a known place for over 900 years.
How Many People Live in Igriés?
The number of people living in Igriés has changed over time. In the early 1900s, there were over 400 residents. The population slowly decreased for many years. By 1992, only 179 people lived there. However, in recent years, the village has grown quite a bit. By 2018, the population of Igriés had reached 705 people.
Interesting Places to See
Igriés is home to a special old building called the Hermitage of San Juan. This hermitage dates back to the 12th century, making it very old. Near the village, there is also a military base. This base shares the same name as the village, Igriés.
