The Bruce Highway, a major road, runs through Ilbilbie from south to north. The North Coast railway line also passes through the area. It runs very close to the highway.

Ilbilbie used to have its own railway station. There was also a station called Koota to the south, but it is no longer used.

Land Use and Nature

The land east of the highway and railway is flat and close to the ocean. This area is mostly used for growing sugarcane. There is even a special railway line, called a tramway, just for sugarcane.

To the west of the highway and railway, the land becomes more mountainous. It rises up to 430 metres at a place called Bulls Head Bluff. The West Hill State Forest is located in the far western part of the area.
