Imuruk Lake is the biggest freshwater lake on the Seward Peninsula in Alaska. It covers about 31 square miles (80 square kilometers). The area that drains into the lake, called its drainage basin, is about 102 square miles (264 square kilometers).
The lake sits on a high, flat area made of lava. This area is about 960 feet (293 meters) above sea level. The land around the lake is mostly flat. The highest point in the drainage basin is only about 1,600 feet (488 meters) high.
There is a small dip in the land between the lake and a part of the Goodhope River. This dip is only a few feet higher than the lake itself. Most of the water from Imuruk Lake flows into the Fairhaven Ditch.
The Serpentine Hot Springs are located about 47 miles (76 kilometers) northwest of Imuruk Lake. These hot springs are part of the Bering Land Bridge National Preserve. They flow into the Serpentine River.
