In Too Deep is the sixth book in The 39 Clues series. It was written by Jude Watson and was released on November 3, 2009. The exciting story takes place in Australia and Indonesia.
The Adventure Continues
In this book, Amy and Dan Cahill face tough choices. They must decide how much they are willing to risk to find the next clue. The hunt gets even more intense when Isabel Kabra, the mother of Ian and Natalie Kabra, joins the search. She is determined to fix her children's past mistakes.
The Kabras send a special "invitation" to the Cahills. It's for a meeting at a dock in Australia. Amy finds herself unsure who to trust. Should she believe the overly sweet Isabel Kabra, or the serious and dangerous Irina Spasky?
Unexpected Allies
Irina Spasky surprises everyone by stopping her pursuit of Isabel. Instead, she starts helping Amy with the clue hunt. Irina changed her mind because she had a sad past. She lost her own son, Nikolai, during a mission. This made her turn away from Isabel.
Amy's life is put in great danger by Isabel. Isabel holds Amy over waters known to have sharks. But Amy manages to escape! She gets help from Hamilton Holt, who remembers their earlier team-up in The Black Circle.
Amy and Dan also learn a difficult truth from Irina. This truth causes a brief distance between them. Amy had been too sad to tell Dan about their parents' past.
The Search for Clues
Amy and Dan keep searching for clues. They discover that a person named Bob Troppo was actually Robert Cahill Henderson. He was an agent from the Ekaterina branch of the Cahill family. Robert almost found all 39 clues in his lab in Indonesia.
However, his important work was destroyed by the huge Krakatoa volcano eruption. After the disaster, he escaped to Australia. Amy and Dan find a mysterious note from him. It's a strange poem that seems to point to the next clue.
With the help of Alistair Oh, the Cahills finally discover the clue: water. But their journey is far from over.
A Heroic Act
Isabel Kabra sets the house where Amy, Dan, and Alistair are staying on fire. It's a very dangerous situation. Irina Spasky makes a brave choice. She decides to save Amy, Dan, and Alistair, even if it means risking her own life.
The book ends with Amy and Dan feeling a new purpose. They realize they are now doing the clue hunt not just for themselves, but also to honor their parents and Irina.
