The Infinity Tower is a very tall building in Brisbane, Australia. It stands 249 meters (about 817 feet) high. This skyscraper was finished in 2014. For a short time, it was the tallest building in Brisbane. It was built by a company called Meriton.
The tower has 81 levels. These levels hold 549 apartments. Some are serviced apartments, which are like hotel rooms with extra services. Others are regular homes. The building is in the North Quarter area of the Brisbane city center. It is close to many important places. These include Roma Street railway station, King George Square, and the Queen Street Mall. It is also near the Kurilpa Bridge. This bridge leads to the South Bank Parklands and the Queensland Cultural Centre.
People living in the Infinity Tower can use many cool features. These include a spa and a swimming pool. There is also a private gym and a sauna. The building has a very good lift system to help people get around quickly. By early 2013, most of the apartments in the tower had already been sold.
Building the Infinity Tower
The construction of the Infinity Tower began in 2009. Before building started, the land was a car park. The company Meriton bought this land for A$25 million.
Construction Milestones
In March 2012, Meriton asked for special permission. They wanted to use a crane that would reach 311 meters high. This was needed because the building design was changed. Four more floors were added to the tower. The Brisbane City Council approved these extra floors.
The Infinity Tower was officially opened on July 24, 2013. Campbell Newman, who was the Premier of Queensland at the time, helped open it. The head of Meriton, Harry Triguboff, was also there. The building was fully finished in early 2014. Some parts, like levels 25 to 64, were completed earlier in late 2013.
