Ingrid Jensen's Music Journey
Early Life and Education
Ingrid grew up in Nanaimo, Canada. She loved music from a young age. She earned a special scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. This is a famous music school.
Touring and First Album
After finishing college, Ingrid traveled the world. She toured with the Vienna Art Orchestra. She also taught music at a conservatory in Austria. In 1994, she returned to the U.S. She joined the DIVA Big Band, an all-female jazz orchestra. That same year, her first album, Vernal Fields, was released. It won a prestigious Juno Award in Canada.
Collaborations and Performances
Ingrid Jensen has worked with many famous musicians. These include Maria Schneider and Terri Lyne Carrington. She has also performed with her sister, Christine Jensen.
Ingrid has even played on the TV show Saturday Night Live. She performed with singer Corrine Bailey Rae. She also played in the horn section for actor Denis Leary.
Since 2020, Ingrid has been part of the jazz band Artemis. This group is led by the talented musician Renee Rosnes. They have released several albums together.
