When Dianne was two years old, her father passed away. She was then raised in Denver, Colorado, by her mother and other family members. She went to Cure D'Ars Catholic School in Denver for most of her early education.
Starting Her Music Career
In 1971, Dianne started singing and playing the piano. She was part of her high school band. While performing at a music event in Chicago, a famous trumpeter named Clark Terry noticed her. He invited her to sing with his band.
Dianne loved performing with Clark Terry's band. She said it was a great way to learn because the musicians interacted so well with each other. She later studied classical singing at the University of Colorado.
Moving to Los Angeles and New York
Dianne moved to Los Angeles to continue her music career. There, she sang and recorded with many talented musicians like Stanley Turrentine, Lenny White, and Billy Childs. She also recorded with a band called Caldera. Later, she started her own band called Night Flight with Billy Childs.
