Inlow was not a big town. It was an "unincorporated community." This means it did not have its own local government like a city. Instead, it was a small group of homes or buildings. The most important part of Inlow was its post office.
Finding Inlow
Inlow was located in Lane County, Oregon, in the United States. It was near a place called Walton. You would have found it on what is now Nelson Mountain Road. It was also close to where Chickahominy and Nelson creeks meet. This spot is about one mile north of Walton.
How Inlow Got Its Name
The post office in Inlow was named after a person. It was likely named for either Igo Inlow or his father, "Doc" Inlow. Many small communities in the past were named after local families or important people.
The Inlow Post Office
The Inlow post office opened on June 20, 1899. Post offices were very important back then. They helped people send and receive letters and packages. This was before email and cell phones existed. The Inlow post office did not stay open for very long. It closed in 1901. After it closed, mail for the area was sent to Hale.
