Innerthal is a small town, also called a municipality, in Switzerland. It is located in the March District within the canton of Schwyz. This charming place is known for its beautiful natural surroundings.

History of Innerthal
Innerthal has a long history. It was first mentioned in official records in 1259. Back then, it was known by the name Wegental. Later, until 1888, it was called Hinterwäggithal.
Geography of Innerthal
Innerthal covers an area of about 50.2 square kilometers (19.4 square miles). A large part of this land, about 34.9%, is used for farming. Forests cover another 34.1% of the area.
Only a small part, 0.4%, has buildings or roads. The rest of the land, about 30.6%, is made up of rivers, glaciers, or mountains. These parts are not used for farming or building.
The municipality is located right next to Wägitalersee. This is a large lake that acts as a reservoir in the upper part of the Wägital valley.
People and Population
Innerthal has a population of 178 people (as of 31 December 2020). A small part of the population, about 2.1%, are foreign nationals. Over the past 10 years, the number of people living here has grown by 5%.
Most people in Innerthal speak German. About 97.0% of the population speaks German. Italian is the second most common language, spoken by 1.8% of people. Rhaeto-romance is third, spoken by 0.6%.
In 2000, the population was almost evenly split between males and females. About 48.5% were male and 51.5% were female.
