Unteriberg is a small village and a municipality in Switzerland. It is located in the canton of Schwyz, within the Schwyz District. Besides the main village of Unteriberg, this area also includes other small villages. These are Studen, Waag, Stöcken, and Herti.

A Look Back: History of Unteriberg

Unteriberg was first mentioned a very long time ago, around the years 1217-1222. Back then, it was called Yberge.

For many years, this area was just known as Iberg. In 1884, it split into two separate municipalities. These became Unteriberg and Oberiberg.

Unteriberg is also famous for being the hometown of Wendy Holdener. She is a well-known ski racer.

Exploring Unteriberg's Geography

The municipality of Unteriberg is located in a beautiful area. It sits in the valleys of three rivers. These rivers are the Sihl, the Waag, and the Minster.

You can find Unteriberg at the southern end of the Sihlsee. This is a large lake created by humans. The villages of Unteriberg, Stöcken, and Herti are all near the Minster river. They are close to where it joins the Waag river. The village of Waag is on its own river, also called Waag. Studen is located on the Sihl river.

To the south of Unteriberg, there is a mountain called Druesberg. Its northern slopes are shared with the nearby municipality of Oberiberg. To the east, you can see the Fluebrig mountain.
