Oberiberg is a small village and municipality located in the canton of Schwyz in Switzerland. It's a great place to visit, especially if you love winter sports! The municipality includes the main village of Oberiberg and the hamlet (a tiny village) and ski area called Hoch-Ybrig.

History of Oberiberg

Oberiberg was first mentioned a long time ago, around the years 1217-1222, and was known as Yberge. For many years, it was part of a larger municipality simply called Iberg. In 1884, Iberg split into two separate municipalities: Unteriberg and Oberiberg. This is how Oberiberg became its own independent place.

Oberiberg covers an area of about 32.8 square kilometers (which is about 12.7 square miles). A big part of this land, about 50.2%, is used for farming. This means there are lots of fields and pastures.

Another large portion, about 39.1%, is covered by forests. The rest of the land includes buildings and roads (1.9%), and areas like rivers, glaciers, or mountains (8.8%) that aren't used for farming or building. As mentioned before, the municipality includes the main village and the Hoch-Ybrig hamlet.
