The Institut Sup'Biotech de Paris, often called SupBiotech or ISBP, is a special school in France. It's a private engineering school that started in 2003. You can find its campuses in Villejuif, near Paris, and in Lyon.
SupBiotech focuses on biotechnology. This is a field where scientists use living things to create new products or solve problems. The school offers a 5-year program. The first three years are like a bachelor's degree in biotechnology. The last two years lead to a French engineering degree, which is similar to a master's degree in biotechnology.

About SupBiotech
SupBiotech was created in 2003 by the IONIS Education Group. It helps train people to work in biotechnology industries. These industries often work in health, new food ideas, or protecting the environment.
Over the years, SupBiotech has received important recognitions:
- On January 11, 2012, the school's degree was officially recognized at a high level by the French government.
- On February 21, 2012, it was recognized by the Industries et Agro-Ressources (IAR) group. This group supports businesses in agriculture and resources.
- Since January 8, 2015, the school has been recognized by the French Ministry of National Education.
- On December 6, 2016, SupBiotech was recognized by the Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur. This group checks the quality of engineering degrees in France.
School Leadership
SupBiotech is part of the IONIS Education Group. This group owns many schools.
The director of SupBiotech since it started has been Vanessa Proux.
What Students Learn
SupBiotech offers a detailed program in biotechnology.
Bachelor's Program
Students start with a three-year program. The first two years are like a special preparatory class for higher education. The third year focuses on getting ready for a job. Students do a 3-month internship during this year. Also, they must travel abroad to study at a partner university.
Master's Program
After the first three years, students continue for two more years. This includes their fourth and fifth years. They choose a special area to focus on. This could be research, developing new products, or working as a sales engineer.
Students also pick an option like:
During these two years, students must complete two internships. One is 4 months long, and the other is 6 months. In January 2011, SupBiotech started a partnership with the Cancer Institut Gustave Roussy. Most of the classes in this part of the program are taught in English.
In their final year, some students can also study for another degree at the same time. They can get an MBA or a Master's degree in basic research. The school also has a special partnership with the Ecole Centrale Paris. This allows two fifth-year students to study biomedical engineering data.
Studying Abroad
SupBiotech works with many universities around the world. This allows students to have international experiences.
Some of these partner universities include:
- Tunisia Private University
- University of California at San Diego
- Université de Montréal
- Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education
- University of Essex in the United Kingdom
- University of Sussex in the United Kingdom
- Heriot-Watt University in the United Kingdom
Research at SupBiotech
SupBiotech has four active teams that do research. These teams work on different areas:
- Bioinformatics (using computers to understand biological data)
- Cellular Engineering (studying and changing cells)
- Agro-environmental Engineering (working with agriculture and the environment)
- Sociology (studying how people and society interact with science)
In May 2012, the school opened a new laboratory for bio-production. SupBiotech also has a partnership with the famous Pasteur Institute.
