Vanessa Proux studied a lot to become a biologist. In 1997, she earned a Master's degree in biochemistry. This is a science that looks at the chemical processes happening inside living things.

Advanced Studies

She also got another Master's degree in a field called enzyme engineering, microbiology, and bioconversion. This involves working with tiny living things (microbes) and special proteins called enzymes to change materials. In October 2001, she completed her Doctorate (a very high degree) from the University of Technology of Compiègne. Her doctorate focused on the same areas: enzyme engineering, microbiology, and bioconversion.

From 2001 to 2003, she worked at the biological department of the Commissariat à l'énergie atomique.
