About Interstate 97
Interstate 97 is known for being quite short. It is only about 17.62 miles (28.36 kilometers) long. This makes it the shortest two-digit Interstate highway in the entire United States! Even though it's short, it's a very important road for people traveling in Maryland.
Where Does I-97 Go?
I-97 starts near Annapolis, where it connects with Interstate 595, U.S. Route 50, and U.S. Route 301. As it heads north, it passes near several towns. These include Millersville, Odenton, and Severn.
The highway connects with other important roads along its way. It meets Maryland Route 3, Maryland Route 32, and Maryland Route 100. Finally, I-97 ends near Baltimore, where it connects with Interstate 695 (also known as the Baltimore Beltway) and Interstate 895. This helps drivers get around the Baltimore area easily.
