About Irene Cruz's Life and Learning

Irene Cruz studied at the Complutense University of Madrid. She earned two degrees: one in Advertising and Public Relations, and another in Audiovisual Communication. After that, in 2011, she completed a special master's degree. This course focused on Conceptual Photography and creating artistic works.

In 2013, Irene received a scholarship. This allowed her to take another advanced course. She learned about lighting for movies, which is called cinematographic photography direction. This skill helps make scenes in films look just right.

Starting Her Art Career

After finishing her studies, Irene Cruz began her journey as a professional photographer. She developed a unique style. Her photos often look mysterious, personal, and very natural. Light is a super important part of all her work.

Later, she also started creating video art. She uses moving images to tell stories, keeping a style similar to her photography. In 2017, Irene worked on her first full-length movie. She was the director of photography for a film called Diana.

Since 2019, Irene has been part of some important groups. She joined the AEC, which is the Spanish Association of Directors of Photography. She is also part of CIMA, a group for women filmmakers and audiovisual media.

In Berlin, she helps organize Stammtisch Women in Cinema Berlin. She is also an active member of The Women+ Film Network Berlin. Besides "Diana," she has been the director of photography for other projects. These include a series called "Hechos Probados."
