Iriana (born 1 October 1963), also known as Iriana Joko Widodo, was the First Lady of Indonesia from 2014 to 2024. She is married to Joko Widodo, who was the President of Indonesia. Iriana is also the mother of Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is now the Vice President of Indonesia.
Her Early Life and Education
Iriana finished high school in Solo in 1983. She then went to Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. She studied there for three years. However, she left before finishing her degree to marry Joko Widodo.
Iriana's Role as a Leader
While her husband, Joko Widodo, was the governor of Jakarta, Iriana became a leader. She was in charge of an important group called the Family Welfare Education organization. This group is also known as PKK. It is a national movement for women in Indonesia.
Before that, Iriana also led the PKK in Surakarta. She did this from 2005 to 2012. This was when her husband was the mayor of Surakarta.
Iriana's Family Life
Iriana married Joko Widodo on 22 December 1986. Their wedding took place in Solo, Central Java.
They have three children together. Their two sons are named Gibran Rakabuming and Kaesang Pangarep. Gibran was born on 1 October 1987. Kaesang was born on 25 December 1994. They also have a daughter named Kahiyang Ayu, who was born on 20 April 1992.
