Irina Rimes (born Irina Rîmeș on August 22, 1991) is a talented singer and songwriter from Moldova. She has become one of the most popular music artists in both Romania and Moldova since 2016. Irina is also one of the four coaches on the Romanian TV show Vocea României, which is like The Voice.

In 2019, Warner Bros Animation chose Irina to be the Romanian voice of Whatevra Wanabi in The Lego Movie 2. Besides her native Romanian, she can speak Russian, English, and French. She lives and works in cities like Bucharest, Chișinău, and Paris.

Early Life and First Steps in Music

Irina was born on August 22, 1991. She is the first child of Valentina and Fiodor Rîmeș. She also has a younger brother named Vitali. Irina has shared that her family always supported her love for music. Her father and especially her grandmother helped a lot. Her grandmother had a beautiful voice and used to sing in a church choir. Irina remembers her grandmother singing carols to them.

Irina showed interest in writing and composing music from a very young age. She started writing poems when she was just a little kid. She learned to sing, write, and read at home. Later, she moved to Soroca for high school. After that, she studied at the Academy of Music, Theater, and Plastic Arts in Chișinău. In 2012, Irina took part in a TV talent show called Fabrica de staruri and made it to the finals!

Becoming a Star: From "Visele" to "Origini"

Irina Rimes moved to Romania in 2016 and signed a contract with Quantum Music. Her very first song, "Visele" (which means The dreams), became a huge hit. It reached number one on the Romanian music charts in 2016. Because of this success, she won an award for the best new artist at the Radio România Music Awards in 2017.

Irina is not only a singer but also a songwriter. She has written songs for many other famous Romanian artists. Some of these include Inna, Raluka, Andra, and Alina Eremia. The magazine Cosmopolitan in Romania even called her "the revelation of 2016."

In 2017, Irina signed another big contract with Universal Music France. She then released her first album, called Despre el (meaning About him). In 2018, she joined Vocea României as one of the coaches, helping new singers.

In 2019, Irina Rimes was featured on the cover of Turkey's biggest digital music magazine, ÖMC Dergi (Dergi). This was her first time being a cover star in Turkey. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Irina started learning French. She even wrote songs in French for herself. In 2023, she released a French song called "Changer." She performed this song for the first time in France in September 2023. On June 29, 2024, Irina released her newest album, "Origini."
