Isam's Early Life
Isam Bachiri was born in 1977 in Copenhagen, Denmark. His family has roots in the Riffian region. He grew up as a Muslim.
When he was young, Isam discovered music through the exciting hip hop scene. This music style was becoming very popular in America at the time.
Music Journey with Outlandish
From 1997 to 2017, Isam Bachiri was part of a Danish hip-hop group called Outlandish. He formed the group with Waqas Ali Qadri and Lenny Martinez.
The band members used their different backgrounds to inspire their music. The Islamic faith of two members was also a big influence.
'Ramadan in Copenhagen' Song
In May 2019, a special meeting happened in Denmark. Artists met to suggest songs for a famous Danish songbook called the Højskolesangbogen. The goal was to include songs that showed Denmark's many different cultures.
Isam was one of the artists at this meeting. His song, 'Ramadan i København' (Ramadan in Copenhagen), was suggested for the book.
Some people disagreed with the song being included. However, Isam defended his song. He said it was a "great honour" to be in the book, even with the criticism.
